The year is 2022. Dan Forester (Chris Pratt), a biology teacher and Iraq War veteran, is watching the FIFA World Cup with his family when they see a wormhole appear in the middle of the field on TV. Several people emerge, claiming to be from the year 2051, when humanity is on the point of annihilation due to an alien invasion, and asking for reinforcements. As a result, world governments dispatch their warriors to the future, where they discover that the survival rate is only 20%, leading to obligatory conscription because no one wants to be caught in the thick of a hostile extraterrestrial invasion. Forester is drafted, leaving his wife and daughter heartbroken.
